This year the international music festival "George Enescu" will take place between 24 August - 21 September, a period when Bucharest will be full of artists and tourists! We love this time of the year, right when summer ends and autumn comes, weather gets milder and the city bursts with life - people eager to discover art and beauty! If you happen to travel to Bucharest in September, be sure to check one of the venues where this amazing classical music festival takes place!
Named after Romania’s greatest composer, George Enescu, the festival honors his legacy while showcasing the best of global classical music. The 2025 edition is especially meaningful—it marks 70 years since Enescu’s passing. His legacy will be honored through an exceptional program that includes over 45 performed works – from symphonies and orchestral suites, to chamber music and the masterpiece opera Oedipe, presented by the Bucharest National Opera. Plenty of artists gather to showcase the beauty of various instruments: over 80 orchestras, choirs and chamber ensembles will participate in the 2025 edition!
The events will take place in seven representative locations in the center of Bucharest, within walking distance of each other:
The Romanian Athenaeum – symbol of the city, neoclassical architectural jewel, headquarters of the “George Enescu” Philharmonic, included in the European heritage
The Radio Hall – famous for its excellent acoustics and hosting the radio orchestras and choirs
The Palace Hall – acoustically transformed into a 3,000-seat concert hall
The Bucharest National Opera – inaugurated under Enescu
The Odeon Theater – Majestic Hall, the only hall in Europe with a movable ceiling
MINA – the first immersive space in Romania, the largest new media art center in Southeast Europe
The MNAR Auditorium Hall – located in the former Royal Palace, hosts remarkable art collections
Club Control – a venue renowned for the diversity of musical events it presents.
