Day 4: Sighisoara - Biertan Fortified Church - Sibiu (traditional homemade dinner in Sibiel village)

Breakfast in the morning, then we head further to Sibiu. On our way, we will stop and visit the Biertan Fortified Church, also UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in the village of Biertan, first mentioned in an official document in 1283. Surrounded by quaint streets and vineyards, the 15th century fortified church at Biertan is perched high on a hill in the middle of the village. Three tiers of 35-foot-high defensive walls, connected by towers and gates, encircled the complex, making the church impossible to conquer during medieval times.

We continue our way to the medieval city of Sibiu, European Capital of Culture in 2007! We will explore the old city center with its upper town, home to most of Sibiu's historic sites, and lower town, lined with colorful houses on cobblestone streets and bounded by imposing city walls and defense towers overlooking the river Cibin.

Because Sibiu makes an ideal base for the exploration of the nearby countryside and villages, in the evening, we will head to Sibiel - a picturesque village situated 20 km away from Sibiu, where we can visit the Glass Icons Museum, and discover the rich heritage of the authentic spirit of a typical Transylvanian village. We will have the opportunity to see how people live in the country side, how they grow their domestic animals and how they prepare traditional food and drinks.

In our last evening, dinner and accommodation in a local family guesthouse in Sibiel village. We will serve a tasty traditional dinner prepared with pure biological food. Alcoholic drinks are also included.
