The Bucegi Mountains are the most visited mountains of Romania, being sought for by all kinds of people who are fond of the mountains: tourists, climbers and skiers. They cover an area of about 300 square km. The maximum height is reached in Varful Omu (Omu Peak): 2505 metres, situated in the northern part of the massif. Towards the east, north and west they are separated from the neighbouring lower zones, by steep mountain sides, the most fascinating being the eastern steep side, from the Prahova Valley, with the famous resorts Sinaia, Busteni, Azuga, Predeal.
